The Gift of Re-Gifting!

My favorite gift this year was a table that was "re-gifted!" It is not so much the actual table that I love, but the memories the table represents!

In 1981, my husband's family started a business and this table was purchased second hand for their conference room. Many business meetings and prayer meetings were held around that table!

In 1997, we purchased a farm and built our dream house. At the same time, my husband's business was updating their offices and purchased a new conference table. We inherited the old one, which fit perfectly in our farmhouse kitchen! That is it in the background of the picture below.

We lived there eight years, and that table saw a lot of family life! It was the designated homework table, the craft table where we sat and made Homecoming mums, prom purses, church banners, sewing projects, school projects, birthday parties, Bible studies, committee meetings, and many special family dinners!

When we sold the farm, we left the table for the new owner, who put it in his barn. My best friend was in his barn one day and saw the table. He said she could have it so she refinished it and placed in her real estate office for a conference table. We signed a few deals around that table in its newly renovated state and I coveted that table! I was so glad it was being used again!

Last year we moved again. Our new home has the perfect place for the table, but my friend was unwilling to let go of it! This past month however, she texted me that I could have it if I still wanted it! My husband hitched up the trailer and brought the beloved table home the next day! It fits perfectly in the space! We are all so excited to have it back!

Sometimes "new" isn't always better. In this case, the re-gifted table was my favorite gift this year!

Like I said, it holds so many precious memories, and many new ones to be made-starting with the first Christmas dinner in our newly renovated home! Merry Christmas to us!
